JOB PURPOSE: Designs, implements, and evaluates the aquatics program and provide therapeutic water based activities in accordance with the wellness program and as may be directed by the supervisor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Operates and manages the daily operations of aquatics facilities. Supervise and assist the participants of the pool and fitness center as they exercise. Maintains wellness program participants records with complete and up-to-date information. Plans, coordinates, and instructs water aerobics classes. Maintains pool and spa/whirlpool to meet government safety guidelines Keeps accurate and up-to-date records to meet government standards. Assist clients, residents, and staff with exercise activities in the Strengthening Center, Aquatics Center, Assisted living facilities (ALF), and the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), as directed by the Wellness Program Coordinator. Exercise activities include weight training, stretching and range of motion activities, and water based activities. Maintains the schedule for cleaning the pool and spa/whirlpool, housekeeping duties, and equipment maintenance, set forth by the supervisor. Maintain daily log of participation Monitors and ensures proper water chemistry and filter operation. Monitors pool, spa/whirlpool, pool deck, and locker rooms for cleanliness, rule enforcement, safety, etc. Maintains inventory of needed supplies and materials (i.e. pool chemicals, equipment, etc.) Knowledge of pool operations and all safety standards. Assist in developing and implementing individual exercise programs for clients. Assist in risk assessments if new clients. Assist in maintaining records of Wellness Program clientele. Transport SNF and ALF residents to and from Wellness Program appointments Monitor clients for safety. Monitor client health status by taking periodic vital signs. Vital signs to include manual blood pressure, manual heart rate, and oxygen saturation using a pulse oximeter. Assist in maintaining and cleaning the Strengthening Center and Aquatics facilities and equipment. Assist in formatting and producing Wellness newsletters. Assist in designing and implementing new education topics for the wellness departments bulletin boards. Assist in operations of the strengthening center and other areas as directed by the supervisor Encourages and motivates residents, community, and staff to participate in the Wellness Program. Operates within a flexible schedule. Seek to ensure clients/residents rights and dignity are maintained at all times. Assist in set-up and breakdown of physical equipment as needed for the Wellness center facilities. Assist supervisor and wellness staff in conducting assessments and gathering information to design exercise programs that meet the functional levels, needs, and interest of each resident, client, and staff participating in the Wellness program. Assist in interviewing residents, interested family members, and legal representatives, significant others, community clients, and staff to obtain and update information needed to develop individualized exercise programs to accommodate individual needs and preferences. Reports injury of self or others to Wellness Program Coordinator immediately Maintains current skills and knowledge through continuing education. Applies information to job responsibilities. Participates in fire and disaster drills. In even of an emergency, carries out assigned duties to assure resident safety. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: On-the-job training provided MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Lifeguard certification by a recognized accredited body, required. Certified as a personal trainer by a professionally accredited organization. Certified as a Certified Pool Operator, preferred but not required ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications) Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field preferred, but not required.
