Data Center Selection Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and experienced Data Center Selection Specialist to enhance our Data Center Site Selection team. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute Meta's data center location strategy by managing site selection efforts for real estate, collaborating with teams on economic development, energy, utilities, network connectivity, legal, policy, and financial aspects. Lead feasibility discussions and negotiate contracts with service providers, property owners, economic development agencies, and utility companies. Negotiate letters of intent, land or building acquisitions, economic development incentives, and other site-specific agreements, including power supply negotiations. Work closely with internal teams such as capacity planning, energy initiatives, data center design, construction, network engineering, legal, policy, communications, and finance. Prepare site location recommendations and effectively present them to management for approval. Develop metrics and tracking systems for portfolio management and engage with external lease management companies. Foster strong relationships with local communities and service providers to support Meta's data center developments, ensuring ongoing contractual commitments are met, and facilitating expansions or new agreements. Be prepared to travel domestically over 50% of the time. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in site selection, data centers, or capital project/infrastructure development. Demonstrated expertise in real estate negotiations, including contract formulation and negotiations. A track record of advocating business interests before government entities, utilities, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Experience managing large-scale real estate development projects while coordinating with internal teams, consultants, vendors, and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills to convey commercial, market, and contractual details effectively across all organizational levels. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and/or Keynote for at least 2 years. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced technical degree or law degree. Experience with hyperscale data center site selection and leasing negotiations. Compensation: The salary range for this position is $202,000/year to $273,000/year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
