Facilities Specialist - Operations Controls Job ID 6612 Location SLAC - Menlo Park, CA Full-Time Regular SLAC Job Postings Position Overview SLAC's Facilities and Operations Division manages one of the world's premier science facilities on a 400+ acre Stanford site with 150+ structures for the Department of Energy. The Facilities Operations & Control (FOC) Specialist serves as the frontline operational position within the Facilities Operations Center. This role is responsible for monitoring site-wide systems, coordinating communications, processing service requests, and ensuring accurate documentation of all operational events. The FOC Specialist supports day-to-day facility operations by maintaining situational awareness of building systems, utilities, and infrastructure while responding to routine and emergency conditions. This position requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed during high-volume or high-pressure events. The FOC Specialist reports directly to the Facilities Operations and Controls Manager and supports the Facilities Operations and Controls Coordinator with overall operational continuity across Facilities & Operations (F&O) This position reports directly to the Senior FOC Operations Manager, and in the absence of that role, temporarily reports to the Operations Director. The position does not have authority to modify systems, procedures, or operational programs and must escalate abnormal conditions or decisions outside standard procedures to supervisory staff. SLAC is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) laboratory operated by Stanford University and based in Menlo Park; CA. Your specific responsibilities include: Monitor site-wide systems including building management, utilities, and lighting systems; maintain situational awareness and respond to alarms, events, and abnormal conditions. Coordinate communications by answering phones, radios, and electronic messages; provide timely responses to internal customers and field personnel. Process service requests and generate work orders; provide administrative and service desk support including data entry and documentation. Document all operational events accurately; assist with data trending, analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
