We are seeking committed, detail-oriented individuals to join us as Combination Driver/Dockworker. This critical role supports our promise to deliver freight safely, accurately, and on time. As a Dockworker, you will efficiently load and unload freight, contributing to our warehouse and material handling operations. In the driving capacity, you will ensure timely and safe freight delivery between service centers and customer locations. Job Summary: Depending on freight availability, this position involves loading and unloading freight at the service center and delivering it by tractor-trailer to service centers or customer sites. The role may involve safely using a forklift or manual methods to load and unload freight during scheduled shifts. Flexibility with work hours is essential, including availability for third shifts, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Key Responsibilities: Dockworker Responsibilities: Load and unload freight using a motorized forklift or manually, ensuring compliance with DOT guidelines. Move freight throughout the service center safely. Utilize the Dock Yard Management System to track freight locations. Read shipping labels and complete necessary freight movement forms. Handle freight by hand loading, rewrapping, or stacking as needed. Maintain high-quality loading standards for all trailers. Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools. Work collaboratively with service personnel in a fast-paced environment. Driver Responsibilities: Operate vehicles safely following DOT regulations. Meet the U.S. DOT medical standards and pass drug and alcohol tests. Drive safely and effectively within designated service areas. Read labels and complete various shipping forms as necessary. Ensure quality loading of trailers and securely handle freight. Be available for pickup and delivery schedules. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Valid CDL-A with hazardous materials and twin/triple trailer endorsements. Acceptable motor vehicle record and 12 months of previous tractor-trailer experience or equivalent training program completion. Strong oral communication skills and ability to follow instructions via radio or phone. Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle safety systems. Must be at least 22 years of age. Physical Requirements: The role requires various physical abilities, including: Sitting: Remaining alert for up to 11 hours while driving. Standing/Walking: Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours on various surfaces. Bending/Stooping: Must frequently squat and maneuver freight effectively. Climbing: Enter and exit vehicles frequently with varying heights. Moving Materials: Handling freight safely, involving lifting, pushing, and pulling loads up to 500 pounds. Visual and Auditory Skills: Must clearly see and hear to drive safely and communicate effectively. Work Environment: Employees will experience varied work environments including exposure to the elements during loading/unloading, inside trucks, and at service centers.
