Job Description Traveling QC Manager / CWI - Structural Steel A respected structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Traveling QC Manager / Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support quality control efforts across multiple project sites. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who understands structural steel fabrication and erection, welding inspection standards, and is committed to ensuring projects meet the highest quality and safety standards. As a Traveling QC Manager / CWI, you will be responsible for inspecting fabrication and erection activities, verifying welding procedures, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This position will require regular travel to project sites primarily throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Key Responsibilities Perform quality inspections for structural steel fabrication and erection Conduct welding inspections in accordance with AWS and project specifications Verify compliance with WPS, PQRs, and welding procedures Review drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and fabrication teams Document inspections, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements Support quality documentation and project close-out requirements Qualifications Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required 3+ years of experience in structural steel quality control or inspection Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes Knowledge of welding procedures, inspection techniques, and QA/QC standards Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and welding symbols Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Willingness to travel regularly to project sites Preferred Experience working for a structural steel fabricator or erector Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AISC standards, and structural steel specifications Experience supporting both fabrication shop and field erection inspections Compensation & Benefits $100,000 - $140,000 DOE Medical, Dental, Vision PTO & Paid Holidays 401(k) Travel expenses covered Long-term career growth opportunities If you're a CWI with structural steel experience who enjoys working in the field and ensuring projects meet the highest quality standards, we want to hear from you.
