Diet Clerk The Diet Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate dietary records of residents, ensure meals are prepared according to their specific dietary needs and restrictions, and collaborate with dieticians in regards to resident meals. The Diet Clerk collects, maintains, and communicates data about the resident's dietary requirements. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Excellent customer service skills Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary principles Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, staff, and families Proficiency with computer systems Ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to meet acceptable background check standards. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting Benefits: NYSHIP health insurance Dental & Vision Insurance Paid holidays, sick and personal days Retirement Plan Tuition reimbursement Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Checks and separates all resident meal tickets to ensure all necessary components include protein, vegetables, starch, and dessert. Identify any potential allergies and dietary restrictions. Inputs new menu for seasonal changes, special events, and holidays in NetMenu. Deliver the next week of the menu cycle to each unit in person every Saturday evening. Prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner tallies for hot production, cold production, and salad preparation. Adjusts any changes to meals as necessary. Tear off tickets and securely attach them to the designated bin. Answer phone calls, including taking requests for residents to select second-choice meals. Makes temporary and permanent changes in diets and nourishments. Refers to NetMenu for correct diet/accuracy. Prepares call downs during meal time and places items on the food truck for kitchen staff (breakfast and lunch). Prepares dinner and puts on steamtables for offline person to deliver to units. Prepare snack bags and juices as needed. Check emails for incoming changes to resident preferences from Dieticians and add them to the Net menu as needed. Reprint tickets and change net menus when doctors' orders come in. Monitor NPO orders as needed. Update allergy list and labels as needed. Cover tray line as needed. Take daycare orders over the phone for lunch and handle changed tickets accordingly. Provides kitchen assistance as needed. Maintain a working relationship with other employees and staff. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisors.
