Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage the utilities team, including utility operators, technicians, and contractors. Oversee the operation and maintenance of all utility systems, including electrical distribution, boilers, steam systems, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and compressed air systems as related to Powerhouse only. Ensure utility systems meet production demands and operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. Working with the AMM Maintenance team, develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for utility equipment. Monitor utility performance, energy consumption, and operating costs; identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction. Direct and lead the facilities Energy Team to identify opportunities for utility sponsored rebates and incentives for energy related projects the mill undertakes. Play an active role in procurement of utilities supplies as required through interactions with the finance department of both the mill and CSC Corporate team. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations. Support environmental programs related to air emissions, water usage, wastewater discharge, and energy management. Coordinate with operations and maintenance to support outages, startups, and planned maintenance activities. Manage utility-related capital projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution. Prepare and maintain utility reports, KPIs, and performance metrics. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. Train and mentor utilities team members on procedures, safety, and operational excellence. Qualifications / Education Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 5+ years of experience in utility operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Prior supervisory or management experience required. LEED certification. Experience in corrugated, paper, packaging, or industrial manufacturing preferred. Working knowledge of boilers, steam systems, electrical distribution, and water/wastewater treatment systems. Applicable boiler operator, stationary engineer, or similar certification preferred. Skills Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Solid understanding of industrial utility systems and safety practices. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and drive process improvements. Effective communication and collaboration skills with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CMMS, and basic reporting tools. Continuous improvement mindset and strong organizational skills. Physical Demands / Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an industrial manufacturing and utility plant environment, with office duties. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and access utility and production areas. Exposure to noise, heat, steam, dust, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions typical of a corrugated mini mill. Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear. Using 2-way radio; ability to hear/see and respond to alerts and alarms. Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds; heavier lifts with assistance or equipment. Working in confined spaces such as. Tanks, fireboxes and steam drums. May be required to respond to utility-related issues outside normal working hours.
