Sr. Commodity Buyer

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with a manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Sr Commodity Buyer. This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for direct materials, negotiating supplier agreements, and driving cost, quality, and delivery performance across a global supply base. The Sr Commodity Buyer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support new programs, manage supplier performance, and ensure alignment with procurement and operational objectives. Job Duties Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned direct material commodities including resins/polymers, rubber components, soft goods/filters/modules/assemblies, and other manufactured materials Lead RFQ/RFP processes, conduct market tests, and evaluate supplier proposals using total cost of ownership methodologies Negotiate multi-year supply agreements and commercial terms to achieve cost savings and secure competitive pricing Manage supplier relationships to drive performance in cost, quality, delivery, and compliance with quality system standards Monitor commodity market conditions, pricing trends, and supply risks to inform sourcing strategies and mitigation plans Support new product launches and advanced procurement initiatives in collaboration with engineering, quality, and program teams Track commodity-level financial performance, forecasts, and cost models to ensure alignment with procurement targets Manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Skills & Experience Required Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field Experience managing sourcing activities for direct materials within a manufacturing environment Experience sourcing commodities in either (1) resins/polymers, (2) rubber components, (3) soft goods/filters/modules/assemblies, or manufactured assemblies Experience leading RFQ/RFP processes and supplier negotiations Proficiency in total cost of ownership analysis, cost modeling, and supplier evaluation Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools for forecasting and data analysis Knowledge of TS 16949 or IATF 16949 quality systems Experience managing supplier performance and long-term supply agreements Desired Experience monitoring commodity markets and pricing trends Experience supporting new product launches or advanced procurement activities Experience working in a fast-paced Tier 1 manufacturing or automotive supplier environment Experience managing multiple sourcing initiatives or supplier programs simultaneously Blue Chip Talent is an award-winning and woman-owned talent solutions provider based out of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
