Salary: $26.27 Hourly Location : Hemet, CA Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 26-2900-03 Department: Operations Opening Date: 03/12/2026 Closing Date: 4/10/2026 11:59 PM Pacific JOB SUMMARY The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting to fill openings for our Full Time Community Bus Operator position. This position will operate the Agency's transit bus fleet of 40' or less and provide safe, dependable and courteous public transportation service for the citizens of the RTA service area. While most Community Bus Operator assignments will be located in Hemet, please be advised that this may also involve assignments at our Riverside Division. Applicants must be available to work 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Essential job duties include but not limited to: Operate Agency transit and support vehicles in both revenue and non-revenue service; Maintain an established schedule along a designated route; Be available to operate Agency buses on pre-assigned shifts; Be responsible for the safety of passengers; Collect proper fares according to Agency tariffs; Give transit information; Collect patronage and revenue data as assigned; Prepare report forms; Report equipment defects or failures; And other related tasks as assigned. The position will function under the general supervision of the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager(s) and under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor(s). QUALIFICATION GUIDELINESREQUIREMENTS: Stable work history Customer Service experience preferred Minimum age of 18 Excellent driving record Minimum 12 months of driving history. Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Permit/License with endorsements with a current medical certificate Additional requirement is that each operator must possess an accurate railroad-type watch, or approved equivalent CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION At the time of application: A current, valid, and non-restricted Class C Driver's License is required. Additionally, a DMV Driver's Record Report printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) must be provided with the application. Continued employment is contingent based on the following requirement: All Community Bus Drivers are required to obtain and maintain a valid Class B Driver's License, with the proper endorsements and current medical certificate. PLEASE NOTE: The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) wants to inform commercial driver license (CDL) customers about new requirements and updated acceptable documents that becomes effective on May 10, 2017. All new commercial driver license applicants will be required to provide the DMV with proof of California residency as well as proof of U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or legal presence. The new requirements apply to original and renewal CDL applicants, as well as CDL cardholders who request a license upgrade.
