What to Expect The Equipment Vendor Surveillance QA Inspector is responsible for surveilling and evaluating suppliers to ensure that all delivered equipment complies with the company's quality standards, regulatory requirements, and performance specifications. The role involves international travel to perform onsite inspections, document reviews, functional testing, and continuous improvement activities that protect product integrity and maintain supplier accountability. Valid Passport required for international travel and ability to travel. What You'll Do Conduct onsite and offsite inspections of vendor facilities (pre-qualification, periodic, and for-cause) to verify compliance with contractual requirements, project specifications, quality standards, drawings, codes, and regulatory requirements for mechanical equipment such as tanks, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, boilers, and associated rotating equipment Review and validate vendor documentation, including inspection & test plans, calibration records, material certifications, and non-destructive testing reports Utilize statistical sampling methods and measurement tools (e.g., CMM, calipers, torque meters) to perform visual, dimensional, and functional testing of equipment Oversee functional and performance testing of equipment (e.g., pressure tests, calibration checks, operational simulations) to verify that equipment will meet design intent Generate detailed, clear, and actionable inspection reports, highlighting non-conformances, root-cause observations, and recommending corrective actions or acceptance criteria while collaborating with suppliers to develop, implement, and track corrective-action plans, ensuring timely closure and verification of effectiveness Communicate inspection results and risk assessments to cross-functional teams (procurement, engineering, quality, manufacturing) to support informed sourcing decisions, monitoring trends in supplier performance, feeding data into continuous-improvement initiatives and vendor database What You'll Bring Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification with general knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Minimum of 8 years of hands-on inspection / audit experience with equipment, with at least 3 years focused on vendor surveillance for mechanical equipment tanks, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, boilers Proficiency with inspection tools (e.g., ultrasonic thickness gauges, vibration analyzers, coating thickness meters) and software for reporting (e.g., Microsoft Office, digital inspection apps). The inspector will be required to possess at a minimum, the basic weld inspection tools to include a measuring tape, v-wac, 6" ruler in/mm, filet gages, mirror, 2-hole pins, flashlight / headlamp, and torpedo level Willingness and ability to travel extensively, to perform inspections ensuring timely coverage of all suppliers and equipment categories Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in dynamic environments.
