Job Title - Summer and Extended Learning Program Specialist Supervisor: Director of Curriculum and Instruction FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Contract Length: Temporary. Position automatically ends at the conclusion of the Alabama Summer & Afterschool Program (ASAP) grant. Job Goals: Coordinate the planning and implementation of Satsuma City Schools' summer and extended learning programs. Support the development and execution of academic enrichment camps, specialty camps, and grant-supported beyond-school programming. Ensure strong program organization, logistics, and communication across all summer and extended learning initiatives. Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, school administrators, teachers, community partners, and additional departments to ensure smooth program operations. Inform continuous improvement efforts through communication, feedback collection, and program reflection. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Must hold or be able to obtain upon employment a valid Alabama teaching certificate in the appropriate grade level and/or subject area(s). Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, community partners, and district leadership. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork to support student achievement and high-quality program implementation. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement curriculum, enrichment programming, and student-centered learning experiences aligned to grade-level and content-specific needs. Demonstrated ability to use technology to communicate, coordinate programming, manage enrollment and attendance data, monitor budgets, and produce required reports and documentation (Google Workspace proficiency required). Experience in summer programs, extended learning, enrichment programming, or school-based coordination preferred. Physically capable of performing job responsibilities, including movement between facilities and supervision of indoor and outdoor activities. Ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance, including extended hours during peak summer programming periods. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Coordinate the development and implementation of summer and beyond-school programming aligned to district goals and priorities. Assist in developing program schedules, structures, and daily operating procedures. Assist in recruiting and onboarding program staff. Support staff orientation and preparation efforts. Coordinate daily program logistics including room assignments, rosters, and supervision plans. Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation. Coordinate with the Transportation Department to arrange transportation services as needed. Support adherence to district safety procedures and student supervision expectations. Assist in developing promotional materials and communicating program offerings to families and the community. Coordinate enrollment and registration processes. Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, students, staff, community partners, and district leadership. Respond to parent questions and concerns in coordination with district leadership. Assist the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in monitoring program budgets. Track expenditures and maintain documentation required for grant reporting and compliance. Support data collection efforts tied to grant requirements and program outcomes. Collect feedback from participants, staff, and families. Provide recommendations to inform future program planning and enhancements. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Terms of Employment: Part-Time; Seasonal and School-Year Responsibilities as Needed. Position is temporary and does not create a contract for continued employment beyond the temporary assignment. Compensation: This position provides a one-year stipend of $12,000, funded through external grant resources. The stipend is for the designated program year only and is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. There is no guarantee of renewal beyond the current funding cycle. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel. New employees are required to provide a Social Security number, an unexpired identity document that contains a photograph, and other acceptable documents that establish employment eligibility. In addition to determining whether a new hire is authorized to work in the United States, E-Verify will confirm that the employee's name and Social Security number match.
