Job Description Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Systems Specialist Role Summary Join a dynamic team of expert engineers as a dedicated Senior Electrical Engineer and Technical Lead, tackling the challenges of large-scale data center power management. You will be at the forefront of technical programs involving on-site power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, advanced UPS architectures, and power system stability for high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. In this pivotal role, you will influence strategic decisions, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and set the technical direction for power infrastructure, on-site generation, and energy storage across a comprehensive fleet. Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. At least 12 years of experience in high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) infrastructure design, power systems engineering, on-site power generation, BESS, and microgrids. A minimum of 3 years of experience with MV and low voltage (LV) distribution systems for large scale data centers. Proven experience in designing large-scale facilities with behind-the-meter (BTM) generation solutions integrated with inverter-based technologies like BESS and supercapacitors. Solid understanding of power system protection, relay systems, and substation design and operations. Demonstrated expertise in power quality and dynamic system behavior, adept at navigating utility requirements and grid compliance. Proven ability to influence decision-makers and align engineering, construction, and operations teams within complex environments. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems. Experience in designing and implementing protection and control (P&C) systems. Proficiency with advanced power simulation tools such as PSS/E and PSCAD. Key Responsibilities Lead electrical outcomes for complex, impactful programs, making technical decisions, managing trade-offs, and integrating stakeholder feedback. Provide electrical technical leadership to resolve urgent power-related issues, reducing future occurrences through thorough analysis and corrective actions. Design and support on-site generation systems (including gas turbines, reciprocating engines) and manage fuel systems, emissions controls, and heat recovery integration. Oversee electrical discipline execution throughout design and delivery phases, optimizing scope, schedule, quality, and commissioning readiness; provide constructive feedback to enhance standards and guidelines. Collaborate with architects to create innovative power architecture concepts and reference designs for future data centers. Assess emerging generation and storage technologies, determining the most feasible and scalable deployment paths. Lead the exploration and integration of advanced power technologies (e.g., fuel cells, advanced battery systems, microgrid controllers, solid-state transformers) and develop best practices and standards. Facilitate troubleshooting for complex electrical system challenges. Disclaimer: Certain customer-facing roles may require compliance with health and immunization mandates.
