Company : Highmark Health Job Description : JOB SUMMARY As a Senior Actuarial Analyst at Highmark Health, you will play a crucial role in our Actuarial Executive Development Program while progressing towards your actuarial credential. You will leverage your extensive experience and industry insights to identify and analyze complex problems, outline data needs for comprehensive studies, and propose effective solutions. You will also guide less experienced colleagues and deliver decision support across teams, focusing on the development of impactful actuarial studies and analyses that inform and support management decision-making. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Diagnose problems and determine necessary data for analysis, ensuring results align with industry standards and personal expertise. Create comprehensive studies and analyses, presenting findings and recommendations to inform management decisions across actuarial functions. Ensure consistency in your work, confirming findings through reasonability checks and exploring alternative explanations. Utilize internal and external resources for industry insights. Foster collaboration by sharing expertise and helping colleagues refine their analyses. Align your work with the strategic goals of the organization, suggesting process improvements that enhance outcomes in line with corporate objectives. Effectively manage your time and resources, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and project demands while keeping your manager updated. Engage collaboratively with stakeholders to provide excellent service and tailor communications to various audiences, both technical and non-technical. Mentor junior staff regularly, cultivating teamwork and high performance while adapting to feedback for continuous improvement. Perform other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Preferred Master's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. EXPERIENCE Required 3 years in an Actuarial role. Completion of 6 Exam Components. Preferred Completion of 10 or more Exam Components. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required None. Preferred None. SKILLS Deep understanding of actuarial principles and their application across various domains. Strong analytical capabilities to solve complex problems and guide others in straightforward tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient problem-solving skills. Language (Other than English): None Travel Requirement: 0% - 25% PHYSICAL, MENTAL DEMANDS, and WORKING CONDITIONS Position Type Office-based, with occasional travel to various work sites. Frequent communication required. Physical demands may include lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally and sedentary work activities.
