The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated person with bookkeeping experience to join our team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. If you are looking forward to starting a new and rewarding career, apply today! DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will provide clerical accounting support in the Inmate Accounts Section. Your work will involve performing bookkeeping duties, including recording, reviewing, classifying, and processing inmate transactions and revenue-producing activities. You will prepare and issue release forms, prepare letters to accompany balance checks, and refund prepaid phone time to inmate accounts. Some of your duties will include processing payments and blocked invoices, processing cash slips, and reviewing receipt of services for large contracts. Additionally, you will answer requests from inmates concerning their account and inquiries from inmates' families. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
