Fleet Operations Manager

PURPOSE: As a Fleet Operations Manager, you will serve as the primary supervisor and representative for drivers within our organization. Your main goal is to manage driver performance, ensuring a high level of satisfaction for both drivers and customers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as the sole communications link for drivers, providing crucial information regarding loads, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance feedback, and updates on company news. Oversee the comprehensive management of an assigned fleet of tractors and drivers, focusing on achieving optimal results in the following key areas: On-time pickup and delivery performance Minimizing out of route miles Ensuring compliance with hours of service regulations Maintaining driver availability Accommodating special routing needs Implementing effective cost control measures Ensure that each driver is well-informed about customer and company expectations for each load prior to dispatch. Conduct daily tracking and accounting of all assigned trucks and drivers. Perform additional duties as directed by authorized personnel. RELATIONSHIPS: Engage in daily interactions with drivers, operations staff, and management through various communication methods, including in-person meetings and electronic communication. ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, capacity to remain calm under pressure, and proficiency in managing multiple tasks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for extended periods and reasonable manual dexterity. EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED: A college degree in business or a minimum of five years of experience in fleet management.
