The Role The BBES Service Technician is a skilled, field-based professional responsible for servicing, installing, and maintaining commercial beverage and foodservice equipment at customer sites. Unlike typical technician positions, BBES technicians operate directly from their homes, manage their own schedules, and are expected to demonstrate a high level of autonomy, professionalism, and technical experience. This role demands strong mechanical skills and comfort in working with electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems. Your ability to represent BBES and our clients confidently in the field is crucial. If you lack experience in certain areas, don't worry! If you possess curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to learn, we will offer the training and resources necessary to help you develop your skills. What You'll Do Respond to dispatched service calls and installations within your assigned area, starting from your home. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues with equipment and determine correct actions. Repair, refurbish, calibrate, and maintain commercial beverage equipment such as coffee machines, soda fountains, and related systems. Conduct preventative maintenance, manage emergency service calls, perform surveys, and install new equipment. Visually inspect, test, and troubleshoot equipment to identify malfunctions; disassemble equipment when necessary. Replace defective parts, realign components, and test equipment post-repair. Document all work performed accurately and timely using provided mobile technology. Track maintenance, repairs, and parts usage in company systems. Maintain service vehicle, tools, and parts inventory in a clean and organized manner. Build positive relationships with customers through clear and professional communication. Operate company vehicle safely in compliance with fleet and safety policies. Participate in overtime, on-call, or weekend service coverage as needed. What Makes This Role Unique You can take your company vehicle home, starting your work directly from your residence. Travel time is compensated from the moment you leave home for your first service call until you return home from your last call. You will receive hands-on training at our headquarters and ongoing technical education. Although you'll work independently, you will have the support of experienced leadership and robust systems and resources. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Prior experience in repairing mechanical equipment; experience with commercial beverage or foodservice equipment is a plus. Solid working knowledge of small electrical appliances and mechanical systems. Willingness and ability to learn about plumbing connections, including various types of lines. Experience with common hand and power tools. Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time efficiently. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Preferred (Not Required) Experience with soda fountains, coffee machines, refrigeration, or foodservice equipment. Background in field service or route-based technician roles. Technical certifications or manufacturer training. Physical and Work Requirements Able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds. Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and working in tight spaces for extended periods. Able to work in environments with mechanical parts, electrical components, and varying temperatures. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely and comply with safety standards. Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English. Use required uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE). What We Offer Company vehicle for work use, taken home daily.
