Exceptional opportunity for an experienced NICU Registered Nurse to provide specialized care in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This contract position is based in Menoken, ND, offering an engaging and supportive environment to practice advanced neonatal nursing skills. Location Overview: Menoken is a charming community in North Dakota, known for its peaceful rural setting and friendly atmosphere. Key Responsibilities: Deliver expert nursing care to critically ill neonates in a 22-bed Level III NICU with an open bed concept Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 for critical patients and up to 1:4 for stable or feeder-grower infants Provide care for patients with diagnoses including respiratory distress syndrome, prematurity, hypoglycemia, and low birth weights Attend deliveries under 36 weeks gestation and assist with APGAR scoring, working collaboratively with neonatologists and nurse practitioners Administer and titrate medications and drips, including antibiotics, surfactants, and TPN Operate specialized respiratory equipment such as bubble CPAP and ventilators Collaborate with charge nurses and multidisciplinary team members to maintain a family-centered care environment Float to newborn nursery and pediatric units as needed, supporting critical care across related departments Qualifications & Desired Experience: Registered Nurse with current BLS and NRP certifications Minimum of 2 years NICU experience, with at least 2 years in Level III or IV care Proficient in titrating intravenous drips and managing complex neonatal cases Ability to thrive in a dynamic unit with strong communication and teamwork skills Positive, engaged, and committed to continuous learning Schedule & Orientation: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Days (7a-7p) / Nights (7p-7a), schedule assigned by manager Weekend rotation: every other or every third weekend; 2 holidays per year required Two shifts of unit-specific orientation provided Hospital-provided scrubs; professional dress code maintained Additional Information: Neonatologist available during the day; overnight care by Neonatal Nurse Practitioner No floating to unrelated specialties beyond nursery and pediatrics unless needed Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius and cannot currently work for facilities affiliated with the contracting organization Return-to-Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; subsequent RTO requests will not be approved This assignment offers clinical challenges in a supportive environment with highly skilled providers committed to excellence in neonatal care.
