Job Description

Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift (3PM-11:30PM) The Maintenance Tech is responsible for the performance and maintenance of large production machinery, ensuring its efficient and effective operation. Essential Functions: Performing preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines. Thoroughly cleaning machines and machine parts, removing and reinstalling parts as necessary. Oiling and lubricating moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance. Recording and reporting damaged, worn, or broken parts. Ordering and installing replacement parts for machines. Identifying the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines. Repairing broken machines quickly and efficiently. Preparing reports documenting work performed. Cleaning, organizing, inventorying, stocking, and otherwise maintaining shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies. Coordinating with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines. Collaborating with product managers or plant engineers regarding new products and required modifications. Making necessary modifications, implementing test runs, conferring with the product manager on test results, and making additional alterations as required. Performing other related duties as assigned. Required Skills: Good working knowledge of molds and molding equipment. Good understanding of pumps, hydraulics, gears, sprockets, transmissions, and chain-driven equipment. Electrical and mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate typical machine shop equipment and tools. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics. Willingness and ability to work on production equipment in a maintenance capacity when required (preferred). Basic computer skills for tasks like emails, writing reports, and video conferencing. Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery. Visual acuity to inspect machines. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. May involve working in various positions, including on ladders, catwalks, and supports at heights, as well as in confined spaces. Competencies: Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving maintenance issues and making critical decisions. Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and spotting potential problems. Technical Capacity: Proficiency in relevant maintenance technologies and the ability to interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics. Safety and Compliance: Understanding safety regulations and industry best practices. Communication: Clearly conveying information. Time Management: Organizing and prioritizing tasks efficiently. Teamwork and Collaboration: Working effectively with colleagues. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical certifications or vocational training are preferred. Experience: Some related work experience, or a minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and in a manufacturing, environment is often preferred.
