Deputy Director of ProcurementUnder the direction of the Director of Procurement, this position provides senior level managerial support and subject matter expertise to ensure appropriate, compliant, and effective contracting and procurement practices across the organization. Also, the Deputy Director will work closely with the Director and cross-departmental teams to direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Procurement Department, including strategic sourcing initiatives, contract administration, competitive solicitations, procurement modernization efforts, vendor engagement, policy development, and compliance monitoring.This position will coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative and executive support to the Director of Procurement. The Deputy Director will be instrumental in assisting the Director in ensuring alignment with the City's vision for transparent, efficient, and innovative procurement practices and may act on behalf of the Director when designated.Each applicant must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Law, or a related field. Five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, contract management, governmental operations, legal or contract administration, or related operational leadership is required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A master's degree, Juris Doctor (JD), Paralegal Certification, or professional procurement certification such as Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent is strongly preferred. Must have a valid Driver's License.Environmental Conditions: Office environment: exposure to computer screens; some travel within the City required.Physical Conditions: Duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; manual dexterity; may be required to operate assigned vehicle.
