Director Of Materials EngineeringBeehive Industries is dedicated to power American defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Through the integration of additive manufacturing, the company aims to meet the growing and urgent needs for unmanned aerial defense by dramatically improving a jet engine's speed to market, fuel efficiency, and cost.Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, with additional facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, Loveland Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. This role can be located at our Englewood, Colorado facility.Role OverviewThe Director of Materials Engineering will lead a cross-functional team with significant technical depth to execute complex, long-term research and development programs in the areas of materials science. This role will have direct leadership responsibility over a team that is conducting cutting-edge work that enables advanced manufacturing capabilities, specifically additive manufacturing. The Director will work closely with the Director of Manufacturing Process Engineering and other teams to ensure project milestones are met and the team has the resource capabilities needed to be successful.What You'll Do...The Director of Materials Engineering leads a cross-functional team to execute advanced research and development programs in materials science, driving innovation to support additive manufacturing capabilitiesThis role collaborates closely with manufacturing process engineering and other teams to align project goals and timelines, while overseeing project planning, budgeting, and milestone deliveryThis role directs metallurgical labs across sites to ensure operational excellenceThe Director provides technical guidance and subject matter expertise in materials science and post-processing techniquesThey communicate program status and risks to executive stakeholdersThey ensure adherence to project and change management best practicesThe position fosters a culture of flexibility, agility, and continuous improvementThey identify and implement process enhancements to improve equipment performance and material qualityYou Have...10+ years' experience leading technical project teams15+ years' experience executing technical projectsJet engine design, analysis, or materials engineering experienceSubject matter expertise in materials science, and related post-processesExperience managing complex projects on time and within budget while managing the expectations of multiple stakeholdersAbility to develop and deliver program updates to executive stakeholdersStrong understanding of project and changing management principlesExperience working within a toll gate review process for development projectsAbility to demonstrate flexibility and agility in a growing companyMaster's or Ph.D. degree in a related field or equivalent, relevant experienceThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
