Your positive, professional, and consistent personal interactions make AvalonBay a great place to work.The RoleWe're looking for a Sr. Workday HRIS Manager to lead the strategy, optimization, and governance of our Workday HCM & PATTs platform. In this role, you'll serve as the functional owner of Workday, partnering closely with HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors to ensure our platform is stable, scalable, compliant, and continuously improving. If you're a hands-on Workday expert who loves building solutions, leading change, and shaping how HR technology supports a growing organization, we'd love to meet you.What You'll Do:Workday Platform OwnershipOwn Workday HCM and related modules including Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Absence, Benefits, and PATTs (US Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking & Scheduling)Maintain system health, data integrity, audit readiness, and manage twice-yearly Workday releasesPartner with HR leadership to translate business needs into scalable, future-proof Workday solutionsConfiguration & Business Process DesignDesign, configure, test, and deploy Workday business processes, eligibility and condition rules, validations, notifications, and calculated fieldsLead configuration for key lifecycle events (hire, job change, termination, compensation actions)Ensure system configuration aligns with security, compliance, and internal controlsSecurity & Data GovernanceManage Workday security roles, domains, and business process securityConduct regular audits and access reviews.Ensure compliance with SOX, data privacy, and security requirementsReporting & AnalyticsOversee development of standard, advanced, and matrix reports.Partner with HR and business leaders to define KPIs and dashboard requirementsSupport data extracts, EIBs, and downstream integrationsRelease & Change ManagementLead impact assessments, testing, and deployment of Workday's semi-annual releasesPartner with vendors and internal teams on regression testing cyclesOwn communication, documentation, and training for new functionalityIntegrations & Vendor ManagementSupport and troubleshoot inbound/outbound integrations (benefits, payroll, background checks, LMS, etc.)Collaborate with IT on integration monitoring and issue resolution.Manage AMS partners, Workday support tickets, and vendor relationshipsTeam LeadershipLead and mentor HRIS analysts/administratorsSet team priorities, performance goals, and development plansEstablish HRIS operating models and intake/triage processesWhat You BringRequired Qualifications610+ years of HRIS experience with strong, hands-on Workday expertise3+ years leading Workday configuration and production support.Deep knowledge of Workday HCM & PATTs business processes, security framework, domains, calculated fields, and reportingExperience supporting medium-enterprise organizations (3,000+ employees preferred)Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skillsPreferred QualificationsWorkday certifications (HCM, PATTs, Security, Reporting, Recruiting, etc.)Experience leading Workday implementations or major module rolloutsExposure to Payroll, Benefits, or Finance integrationsHow AvalonBay Supports YouWe know that our teams are the beating heart of our success and we're committed to showing our appreciation.We offer:Comprehensive benefits health, dental and vision, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and holidays, tuition reimbursement, an employee stock purchase plan and more.Growth based on achievement and promotion from within.Associate recognition (a company-wide recognition program that celebrates associate efforts and successes in contributing to the overall success of the organization including destination awards, 'AvalonBay's Very Best' recognition program and others!).A 20% discount on our incredible apartment homes.A culture built on purpose and our core values - A Commitment to Integrity, A Spirit of Caring, and A Focus on Continuous Improvement.Additional InfoAvalonBay is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to an inclusive and diverse work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
