We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual to provide support within the drivers' functions, primarily pickup and deliver equipment, materials, and mail packages within the continental U.S. Our customer focused over the road driver will help us support a workforce of almost 9000 staff. We are passionate about support and with your help, we will remain a valued partner throughout APL. As a Truck Driver... Your primary duties will be to operate APL vehicles, including those over 32,000 and up to 80,000 lbs. gvw, for purposes of picking up and/or delivering mail, miscellaneous freight, delicate equipment and messages throughout the continental U. S. Perform interstate and intrastate over-the-road driving utilizing straight trucks and tractor-trailers. Load trucks and ensure cargo is properly secured. You will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for a NACILAC and access to classified information. You will drive APL vehicles, transporting passengers and equipment internally and externally on APL campuses. If selected you will undergo a motor vehicle record check. You will drive special bus tours for staff and APL sponsors and chauffeur Lab guests and VIPs to/from designated areas. You will inspect and fuel APL vehicles, record vehicle issues and concerns in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal and State Highway Administration (FSHA) regulations. You will maintain the cleanliness, safety and operational standards of vehicles driven. Assists in other areas within the group as needed. You must obtain a forklift license. You will wear safety shoes. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Possess a high school diploma or equivalent and read, write and communicate Two years driving experience and possess a Class A CDL with passenger, air brake endorsement have a valid DOT medical card -- APL Drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as DOT requires. You will be expected to comply with all DOT and MVA rules and regulations to maintain a CDL. Are capable of fueling, cleaning and maintaining buses and APL owned vehicles. Work well independently and within a team environment with strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must obtain a forklift license. Are able to drive for a minimum of 3 hours without breaks and flexible to work an 8-hour daily schedule with overtime hours as needed. Are able to obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
