About the job Electrical & Controls Engineer II Title: Electrical & Controls Engineer II Status: Full-Time Location: Waterville, Ohio Relocation: Possible for an ideal candidate Salary: Salary to be discussed with a Partner Recruiter Visa Support: Not available Overview We are seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer II to support a large, complex manufacturing operation that runs 24/7. This role is focused heavily on controls engineering, automation reliability, and performance improvement rather than routine maintenance. The engineer will play a key role in both day-to-day plant support and longer-term capital and upgrade projects. This position offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on plant performance, safety, and automation capability while working closely with electricians, supervisors, and engineering leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead improvements that enhance electrical and controls system reliability and reduce unplanned downtime Troubleshoot and resolve complex PLC, HMI, VFD, and networked control system issues Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions Independently manage full lifecycle engineering projects, including scope development, justification, execution, and closeout Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, specifications, cost estimates, and commissioning plans Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and external engineering resources Support plant electrical safety initiatives and compliance with NFPA 70E and internal engineering standards Implement controls upgrades, including replacement of obsolete drives and control systems Provide technical guidance and mentorship to electricians and junior technical staff Communicate project status, risks, and performance improvements to plant leadership Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum 3 years of electrical/controls engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Strong hands-on experience with PLC, VFD, and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley preferred) Experience supporting continuous operations (24/7 manufacturing environments) Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills Why This Opportunity Stands Out High-impact role with direct influence on plant performance and reliability Blend of capital projects and daily controls support, keeping work varied and engaging Opportunity to work in a stable, long-term manufacturing environment with strong engineering standards Located in Waterville, Ohio, offering a lower cost of living, access to outdoor recreation, nearby metro amenities, dining, entertainment, and an excellent quality of life for individuals or families
