Assistant Controller

Responsibilities Kforce has a client in McLean, VA that is seeking an Assistant Controller.Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role plays a key part in strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial information.Responsibilities: Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations Support audit preparation and act as a liaison with external auditors Assist with internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures Partner with AP, AR, and payroll teams to ensure accuracy and compliance Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff as needed Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required) CPA or CPA-track a plus 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior experience as a Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP Experience with month-end close and financial reporting ERP system experience (Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP, or similar preferred) Advanced Excel skills The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
