For more information about LGESVT, please visit Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power System Modeling Engineer with deep experience in modeling and validating models of energy storage systems, inverters, generators, and renewables to be used for large generator interconnection studies. In this role, you will be a key member in developing and conducting computer simulations which include dynamic and steady state analysis of generation resources connected to transmission systems. This role is pivotal in delivering industry-wide accepted standard and user defined models of LGES-VT's energy storage systems. Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain models of energy storage systems, inverters, generators, and renewables to be used for dynamic and steady state grid interconnection studies Perform NERC Compliance related technical analysis of our energy storage solutions Perform simulation studies to investigate interactions between different generation resources in terms of stability and performance in off-grid and grid-connected operations. Perform short circuit and dynamic stability analysis of our battery energy storage solutions Perform simulation studies to make sure our battery storage solution projects meet low or high voltage ride through requirements at the point of interconnection. Maintain excellent documentation of simulation reports, system studies and give presentations to internal stakeholders and our customers. Interface with sales engineering, program management, project management and project engineers to collect project modeling requirements. Key Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRequired: Bachelor's/Masters/PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on power systems or power electronics. Minimum 3 years of power system modeling experience using PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF and Aspen. Expertise creating detailed models of battery energy storage systems, generators, power electronics converters, gas turbines, and electrical networks and components. Thorough understanding of three phase power system operation and power flow Knowledge of inverter operation and control Experience with ISO/RTO regulation and requirements (ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, PJM) Experience with NERC Standards and NERC compliance that applies to grid interconnection requirements. Excellent verbal, written and documentation skills. Execute multiple tasks at any given time Ability to interface well with internal and external customers. Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for all phases of the product development process, especially requirements, specification development, and release control. Location Hybrid (Westborough, MA or Saint Louis, MO) or remote Travel 10% of travel is required if you work remotely.
