The facility manager provides operational direction and leadership to all associates supporting distribution requirements. In this capacity, the facility manager maintains full P&L responsibilities for the designated distribution center. The facility manager also encourages and enables personal and professional growth of distribution center management and hourly associates. The facility manager also sets the strategic vision and direction for distribution center operations and seeks ways to improve business processes, operational disciplines, overall efficiency, and most importantly, store service. The facility manager leads an environment and culture of high safety and sanitation standards. The facility manager works directly with the Senior Site Director or Vice President of Distribution to identify and successfully manage infrastructure and business process changes within Ahold Delhaize, including, inter alia, new stores, new products, schedule changes, facility upgrades and expansions, alternate supply chain methodologies, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primary accountability for specific functions and results. The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented or changed as necessary. 1. Maintains full P&L responsibility for the designated distribution center, including: • Establishing annual operating and capital budgets for distribution center operations; • Meeting and exceeding annual budgeted financial targets; • Making investment recommendations for equipment and facilities, including rentals (driven by volume); and • Maintaining sufficient reporting to ensure accurate financial results and operational controls. 2. Develops, modifies, and/or enhances distribution center business processes to optimize store service and cost. This is achieved by: • Executing detailed planning and coordination to develop the most efficient logistics plan possible. • Securing additional space (as needed) and sub-leasing space (if possible) to optimize facility utilization. • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and operating schedules to meet inbound and outbound volume requirements and store delivery schedules; • Managing to the highest levels of individual and group productivity to secure the lowest net landed cost from our distribution centers to the stores' shelves; • Aligning policies and procedures with daily and weekly business requirements; • Incorporating operational audits, training, accountability measures, benchmarking, and systems to achieve superior results; • Studying the latest relevant industry business processes and methodologies and applying them (where applicable) to improve site distribution center operating performance; and • Experimenting with and implementing alternate logistical methodologies where appropriate (i.e., cross-docking, flow-through, DSD, etc.). 3. Ensures that the facility is operating within federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Responds quickly and appropriately to requests from any governmental agency in order to keep facility compliant with the applicable codes. Works with operational managers to maintain necessary records in an organized and accurate manner. Keeps sanitation and safety at high priority levels and in constant compliance with SQF standards. Oversees solid facility and product security, particularly for overseas product. 4. Establishes and maintains a culture of open, honest communication, and one of shared concern for the well-being and genuine respect of all distribution associates. Encourages opportunities for participation, collaboration, and teamwork at all levels within the distribution organization. Requires a management style among supervisors which promotes an atmosphere of high performance, superior customer service, and innovation, while never compromising management's integrity among our hourly associates. 5. Leads the personal and professional development of management and hourly associates by: • Ensuring the on-going evolution of strong training programs and the opportunity for associates to take advantage of them; • Providing opportunities for associates to participate in a wide range of distribution center functional experiences and to work in our various warehouse facilities and departments; • Performing periodic honest and forthright one-on-one performance reviews throughout the year, helping direct reports and others construct clear personal and professional objectives, and responding appropriately to developmental opportunities; • Detailing and documenting operational changes to solidify a dedicated planning/execution culture within the supply chain organization; • Planning long-range to ensure a steady flow of qualified applicants ready to be promoted from within. 6. Maintains acceptable operating results by using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as benchmarks 7. Meets periodically with Merchandising, Procurement, Information Technology (I.T.), Accounting, and leaders within our Ahold Delhaize operating companies to keep in sync with sales plans, system upgrades, markedly higher volume forecasts, seasonal exceptions, and accurate financial reporting. Identifies and responds to merchandising plans which require distribution methods outside the normal scope of day-to-day business. 8. Interfaces well in verbal and written form with all levels of the company, including: • Executive management • Distribution operations management • Distribution hourly and clerical associates • Accounting management • Purchasing management • Information Technology management • Outside vendors • Ahold Delhaize supply chain leaders • Store operations management within the Ahold Delhaize operating companies 9. Periodically visits operating Company management to ensure good business alignment and a clear understanding of facility's operating performance requirements (from the point of view of our customers). ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Respond to special requests from the Sr. Site Director or VP of Distribution & SC Development, other operations management, or to troubleshoot problems with availability during all operating hours of facility. • Keep abreast of operational methodologies employed by other Ahold operating companies, which may benefit facility. Implement operational practices which have proven to be effective. • Respond to special requests from the Ahold Delhaize operating companies. • Auditing of relevant departments and operations. Investigate potential system setup issues and make modifications to operational methods and responsibilities accordingly. • Make decisions on required staffing levels, manager and supervisory-level responsibilities, reporting structure, and operational processes to support customer requests and customer service levels. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: To perform at a proficient level and be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:1. Education (Min): Four-year college degree in Business / Computer Science or related field or four (4) years of significant related work experience in distribution center management 2. Experience (Min): 5-7yearsrelated work experience. Extensive leadership skills that generate mutual respect and understanding within our organization and the operating company organization. 3. Special Knowledge: Working knowledge of business process change, planning, and execution. 4. Special Skills: Extensive coaching, training, and mentoring skills that can be applied internally and in the operating company environment. Process improvement, strategic planning, change management. Demonstrated experience in budget preparation & financial analysis of departmental expenditures. Demonstrated experience with productivity management systems. Specialized knowledge of grievance handling procedures, inventory control, shipping, receiving, quality management, and OSHA/State Safety regulations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. PC skills including MS Office products. Knowledge and experience with business operating systems including, but not limited to WMS and TMS. 5. Other: Experience in labor negotiations and/or direct dealing objectives. Knowledge of engineered labor standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
