The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a highly motivated and technically accomplished professional to serve as the Principal Infrastructure Identity Security Architect within the Information Technology Branch (ITB), Enterprise Infrastructure Security Operations Section. The Information Technology Specialist III functions as the department's principal architect responsible for designing, implementing, and advancing secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise identity and access management solutions across hybrid cloud and on-premises platforms. The incumbent serves as a senior technical authority and provides expert-level architectural guidance to engineers, system administrators, and project teams. This role ensures secure integration of directory, authentication, authorization, network, DNS, and email systems while enforcing least-privilege, Zero-Trust, and compliance-based access models. The incumbent collaborates with enterprise architects, cybersecurity leadership, and infrastructure operations teams to align identity and access architecture with organizational objectives and statewide security strategies. The Principal Infrastructure Identity Security Architect leads modernization efforts to improve automation, lifecycle governance, and recovery readiness; advises management on emerging identity technologies; and ensures that EDD's enterprise infrastructure maintains the highest standards of security, compliance, and operational efficiency. This position is headquartered at 1416 9th st, Sacramento, California, and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their assigned headquarters office as needed. Travel may be required to support enterprise projects and coordination with other state or vendor partners. "This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee." Working Conditions Visa Sponsorship This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
