Duties/Responsibilities What You'll Do As our new Community Services, Parks & Recreation Shuttle Driver, you will: Transport participants to essential services, such as medical appointments, grocery store, pharmacy, and bank visits; provide transportation for Senior Trips and Tours and City personnel. Assist participants in onboarding and disembarking the shuttle bus; assist disabled passengers using specialized equipment. Perform thorough pre- and post-trip shuttle bus and equipment inspections; ensure shuttle bus meets safe and operating standards. Make prompt and accurate accident and incident reports; provide first-aid assistance, as necessary. Compile data on passengers served, assist in preparing and maintaining records and reports related to services provided. Ensure shuttle bus is maintained in a clean and orderly condition. What We're Looking For Someone who: Has knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations regarding public transit operations. Understands techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and City staff. Has the ability to operate shuttle bus and specialized equipment for disabled passengers safely. Is tactful and uses independent judgement within general policy and procedural guidelines. Has the ability to read and interpret maps and schedules. Responds decisively and effectively in emergency situations. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Experience: Two (2) years of experience operating public transport vehicles. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class "B" Driver's License with passenger endorsement, school bus endorsement, and/or school driver certificate, to be maintained throughout employment. Special Requirements Physical Demands and Working Conditions:Mobility to work in a predominantly vehicle driving/operating environment. Operate a motor vehicle and drive on highways, surface streets, and City roads in light and heavy traffic. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 25 pounds, or heavier weights, in all cases with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance from other staff.
