New Tech Global is seeking a Metrology Engineer for a client located in Northvale, NJ. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a base salary of $100-115k. This role will be responsible for hands-on dimensional inspection, OGP programming, and measurement system control for precision automotive components, including electronic terminals and terminal clips. This role ensures compliance with customer specifications, GD&T requirements, and IATF 16949 standards. The position supports new product launches through APQP activities and plays a key role in PPAP preparation, control plan development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Metrologist collaborates cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams while demonstrating core values of accountability, teamwork, and integrity. Main Responsibilities • Perform detailed dimensional inspections on automotive terminals and clips using OGP optical systems, CMMs, and vision systems. • Develop and optimize OGP programs to inspect complex geometries with tight tolerances. • Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) and PPAP layouts, interpreting GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to validate CTQ characteristics like pitch, coplanarity, and plating thickness. • Maintain IATF 16949 QMS standards and support the development of APQP documents, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams. • Lead internal/external audits and manage corrective actions to ensure continuous compliance. • Conduct Gage R&R and capability studies (Cp/Cpk) per AIAG guidelines to monitor process performance. • Drive data-based decisions using Minitab and QC Calc to analyze trends and ensure measurement traceability. • Resolve non-conformances using 8D and Root Cause Analysis while supporting Lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen) to reduce scrap and rework. • Design inspection fixtures and gauges to enhance measurement efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications • Engineering degree or equivalent (Technical certification or associate degree in engineering/quality preferred). • Strong knowledge of precision metrology principles and inspection techniques • Experience operating and programming OGP or similar optical measurement systems. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QC Calc, Minitab, and related quality software. • Solid understanding of AIAG core tools: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC. • Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements (strongly preferred). • Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T specifications. • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to perform capability analysis and monitor process performance. • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
