Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/Clerk: Media Center Date Posted: 3/10/2026 Location: Cartersville High School Date Available: 2026-2027 School Year Closing Date: Until Filled Description: Media Clerk, Classified Position, Level 4, 190 Days Qualifications: Rank I license: high school diploma or GED equivalent, Rank II license: 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university. Reports to: Principal SUMMARY: Carries out the general daily activities in the school media center at the direction of the Instructional Technology and Media Services Specialist. Assists in providing a well-organized, smooth functional resource environment for students and staff. Assists students and staff in using all services and resources of the media center Provides a welcoming environment that creates enthusiasm for reading including displays, bulletin boards, activities/lessons, and reading incentives Establishes behavioral standards for students in the library media center Through a working knowledge of books and authors in the collection, assists students with reading selections Works with staff to acquire and distribute needed resources for curriculum support and provides instruction in its proper use when needed Checks in/out books, non-print materials, textbooks and equipment to students and staff according to established library policies and procedures Assists in borrowing materials from other library media centers Informs students, parents, and teachers of overdue books, textbooks and fines Schedules usage of library/media space as needed Maintains the library media center in a neat and orderly condition by shelving books and non-print items, removing damaged and outdated materials and conducting a periodic inventory Manages the circulation and cataloging system for library media materials, including printing reports, editing patrons, and updating records upon request of the Instructional Technology and Media Service Coordinator Identifies and repairs books and other media resources Provides input on purchasing library materials for maintaining an effective media center and assist in preparing orders Receives and processes all print and non-print materials and instructional equipment, including textbooks Maintains accurate financial records for library fines, lost and damaged books, copy machine, and printer Assists in the acquiring and training of volunteers Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive of the Instructional Technology and Media Service Coordinator, the principal, or appropriate administrator Application Procedure: Candidates should complete the system application available at Complete applications must contain a current resume, copies of transcripts of all college credit, copy of certificate, and 3 complete reference evaluation forms (available in the online application) to be considered.
