TITLE: Adjunct Nursing Faculty DEPARTMENT REPORTS TO: Vice President for Academic Affairs FACULTY REPORTS TO: Dean of NursingSummary: Adjunct Nursing Faculty report to the Dean of Nursing. Adjunct Nursing Faculty ensure course student learning outcomes are met through provisions of assigned class or clinical instruction and student evaluation. Adjunct Faculty are required to participate in the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, provide feedback for curriculum development , and assist with the implementation of the systematic evaluation plan for Nursing Programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILTIES The Adjunct Nursing Faculty shall: Adhere to all AMC nursing department policies as published in the faculty and student handbooks Utilize established course syllabi and resources to guide teaching and to correlate student learning course outcomes to student assignments. Prepare lecture outlines and notes based on course student learning outcomes and nursing course topical outlines in advance. Promote high standards of excellence and academic integrity in assigned courses. Demonstrate positive morale and team spirit, including support of the college and BSN program missions, philosophies, and goals. Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision. Present course content in classroom and/or clinical setting and attends all sessions as assigned. Meet with representatives of clinical agencies as requested. Supervise students in the clinical and nursing laboratory educational experience. Counsel and advise students as necessary. Direct students in the use of AMC nursing program approved remedial and/or enrichment material for independent learning. Communicate successes or failures in student progress to course leader or program director in the weekly communication form. Provide students with constructive and timely feedback. Complete student evaluations for class/clinical performance. Submit completed student evaluations to the Department of Nursing prior to the submission of midterm and final course grades. Maintain documentation of student attendance and performance according to college and program policy. Maintain knowledge of major trends in the specific areas of instruction methodology and technology. Participate in development and implementation of a systematic plan of evaluation for the Bachelor of Science in nursing education programs. Participate in program and college faculty meetings and activities as requested by Dean. Maintain professional competence through clinical practice, continuing education, and professional activities. EXPECTED RESULTS The Adjunct Nursing Faculty will provide opportunity for nursing students to complete course student learning outcomes necessary to fulfill requirements for eligibility to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY Supervise and mentor nursing students in classroom and clinical settings. CONTACTS Maintain verbal, written, and/or electronic communication with nursing students. Communicate with course leader, full-time nursing faculty mentor and/or the Dean of Nursing for feedback and support. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO REACH ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE Hold an Advanced Degree in Nursing. (g., earned master's degree in nursing, or possess an earned doctorate in nursing.) Hold an unencumbered Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing. Possess a minimum of two years full-time nursing experience (or its equivalent) within the last five years, with evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction. Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities. Be current in Healthcare Provider CPR (within the last two years and to be renewed every two years). Provide documentation of current health care requirements as required by the State of Massachusetts and assigned clinical agencies. Salary Range: Didactic courses: $900-$9,000 per course; Lab Simulation/Clinical Supervision: $52.50 - $80.00 per hour
