Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial Date Posted: 3/9/2026 Location: Glenbard East Date Available: ASAP Closing Date: Until Filled Job Posting ID#: 10630 Closing Date: Until Filled Position Building Manger Building Glenbard East Position Type Confidential Term 12-month Hours Start time TBD - 8 hours per day License Required None Supervisor Assistant Principal for Operations Rate of Pay $70,000 - $75,000 (based on experience) Start Date ASAP Position Summary Glenbard Township High School District 87 is seeking a qualified candidate who will perform duties and responsibilities necessary to support the Assistant Principal for Operations, District Facilities and Transportation Manager, and School Administration while exercising direct control and responsibility for the cleanliness, maintenance, repair, and security of the building and grounds. Qualifications Associate Degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or supplemented by a combination of additional education, training, and experience, including supervisory experience preferred. Must possess working knowledge and understanding of every aspect of building systems (including HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical, plumbing and BAS). At least three (3) years in a Leadership role preferred. Spanish speaking preferred. The Association of Facility Engineers (AFE) Certified Professional Maintenance Management (CPMM) and Certified Professional Supervision (CPS) accreditation preferred (willing to obtain within a year upon hire). Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations; OSHA and/or CMM (Certified Maintenance Manager) a plus CPR and first-aid trained, preferred Strong interpersonal skills. Experience and knowledge of building custodial and maintenance operations. Experience and knowledge of required building inspections. Demonstrated ability to handle administrative responsibility. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students and public, as well as exhibit patience and understanding with students. Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, and directing. Demonstrated skill in employee supervision and preparation of written employee evaluations. Knowledge of computer applications for budgeting, preventative maintenance and energy management systems. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge of computer applications Microsoft office and Google suite. Valid Driver's License required. Evidence of physical fitness (upon hire). Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Not all Inclusive) Review all work orders and establish priorities for the prompt and efficient accomplishment of all such work. Displays and uses knowledge of current best practices, information, and trends in the field of physical building management. Coordinates all daily school operations with the Assistant Principal for Operations (APO). Oversees and ensures the vendors are in compliance with District expectations, quality of work, contract requirements and industry standards in performing all required duties in management of a diverse workforce of custodians, grounds crew, and maintenance technicians. Assign specific job functions / projects to Vendors and supervise completion of the assignment. Initiate requisitions for supplies and equipment with the approval of the District Facilities & Transportation Manager. Coordinates with contractors and vendors under the guidance of the school administration. Provide assistance as required to maintenance personnel working within the building. Monitors and reinforces all fire and safety regulations to ensure that the building and properties are protected from fire and hazard. Oversees all staff attendance and approves time cards and coordinates all discrepancies with the vendors. Oversees and approves of the overtime and security work schedules, coordinates with vendors. Assists in the preparation of the annual building and grounds budget. Actively supports and establishes a suitable training program for all assigned personnel. Facilitates and supports the building preventative maintenance, safety, and energy efficiency programs. Alongside the Cleaning Services Provider, prepares a performance evaluation for each person under their supervision. Responsible for the upkeep of school property, beautification of the building entry points, and upkeep of the athletic fields. Directs and participates (as needed) in snow removal coverage in coordination with school and district administration. Oversees and ensures that the vendor is in compliance (per the contract and expectations) with proper staffing, recruiting, hiring, discipline and termination of team members. Oversees and ensures that the vendor is in compliance with providing human resources services, payroll, and safety initiatives. Responsible for inventory of equipment and tools. Responsible for coordinating repairs of district equipment. Inspects repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently, specifications are within established guidelines and approving inspection reports and payment requests. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose enhancing job knowledge and gathering information required to perform essential functions. Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference or conveying information Oversees and ensures that the vendor is in compliance with coordinating summer cleaning projects. Monitors all school vehicles including: driver's education, Transition program vans, maintenance trucks, and the athletic buses. Coordinates all special projects. Collaborates with district and building leadership to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities. Maintains the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with the Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other policies of the district. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy. Participates in special assignments and projects as required by the Assistant Principals and the District Facilities & Transportation Manager. May be called upon to represent the Board of Education in collective bargaining negotiations when needed. Work hours could be before and/or after regular school hours to accommodate projects and school needs. This could include weekend activities. The position requires an on-call availability 24 hours a day and 365 a year. Other duties as assigned.
