Duties Description The Office of State Senator Erik Bottcher is seeking to hire an Albany-based Scheduler & Legislative Aide. The Scheduler & Legislative Aide supports the Senator by managing the Senator's calendar, assisting with policy research and drafting legislation, meeting with advocates regarding legislative proposals, and supporting the Senator's Albany and New York City operations. Key duties include receiving, prioritizing, and responding to meeting and event invitations, managing the Senator's schedule and other schedules within the office. They work within the Legislative Team under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and act as a liaison between policy advocates, other legislative offices, and Senator Bottcher's office, and monitors committee hearings and legislative sessions. The Scheduler & Legislative Aide helps research, develop, introduce, and advance legislation and policy that is aligned with Senator Bottcher's legislative goals and committee responsibilities for District 47 and beyond. In this dynamic role, you will: • Manage various office schedules and support event logistics • Receive meeting requests and event invitations, and then prioritize, schedule, and correspond with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary • Be a key member of the Legislative Team • Perform research and help draft legislation • Attend meetings, committee hearings, and legislative sessions with and on behalf of the Senator • Following up with legislative offices and staff to confirm committee meetings, briefing materials, appointments, and cancellations • Effectively communicate with senior staff and district office staff • Have awareness of constituent services casework to develop possible legislative solutions to local concerns and issues • Travel occasionally as needed Minimum Qualifications To move forward, you must have: • Demonstrated experience managing workflows • Strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented • A strong interest in policy research and problem solving • Knowledge of the New York State legislative process, organization, and procedures, including bill drafting and implementation • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively with coalitions and stakeholders • Proficiency in relevant software programs • The ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with sound judgment and discretion • A bachelor's degree in public policy or related field or a combination of education and experience Additional Comments This is a full-time, overtime exempt position. The salary range is $60,000 to $70,000, commensurate with education and experience.
