Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the organization. Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and established guidelines of nursing practice. Meets unit-specific physical demands, including standing and walking most of the time on duty. Engages in a significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and days of the week according to patient care requirements. High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids is involved. Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., kneeling, crouching, and crawling minimally. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities.
