Summary The General Manager, Ready Mix Division is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic, financial, operational, safety and cultural performance of a designated geographic area. This position will lead the area's growth by developing and executing market strategy, fostering high-level customer and vendor relationships, and ensuring cross-functional alignment with operational execution. The role is focused on market leadership, customer success, team development and long-term business planning. The General Manager will oversee the area's people and facilities, setting the strategic direction for each plant's market positioning and ensures alignment through collaboration with the Operations Manager, who leads plant execution. The General Manager also oversees the Market Manager and/or Sales Representative, guiding tactical sales efforts and customer engagement and Service Team. This role carries full P&L responsibility and plays a critical role in positioning Manatt's as a market leader in quality, service, and value across the region. Market Strategy & Commercial PlanningDevelop and lead go-to-market strategies for each plant in the assigned area based on customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive intelligence. Conduct ongoing market and customer analysis to identify opportunities for growth, differentiation, and pricing effectiveness. Set strategic direction and revenue targets, aligning sales and operational efforts with business goals. Sales LeadershipDirect and support the Market Manager or Sales Representative to execute local sales strategies, manage key accounts, and grow market share. Provide guidance on pricing, customer negotiations, and pipeline development. Maintain visibility with high-value customers and ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience across all plants. Cross-Functional CoordinationCollaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure plant-level execution aligns with market strategy, sales commitments, and service expectations. Align production capacity, delivery logistics, and operational readiness with commercial objectives. Ensure consistency in customer delivery standards and communication across the region Financial OwnershipOwn full P&L responsibility for the assigned territory. Monitor and analyze business performance; take corrective action to improve profitability and efficiency. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning efforts in coordination with finance and executive leadership. Leadership & CultureLead a diverse team including sales, operations, service team, and administrative support. Develop direct reports through mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA a plus) 10+ years of leadership experience in the ready mix, construction materials, or heavy civil industries Proven ability to develop and execute business and market strategies Strong financial acumen with full P&L responsibility Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams including operations and sales Core CompetenciesStrong strategic mindset with ability to balance market growth and operational efficiency. Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills with key stakeholders. Data-driven and financially literate; able to interpret KPIs and take action. Comfortable in fast-paced, dynamic environments with competing priorities. High integrity, transparent communicator, and strong leadership presence. Reasoning Ability:Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to synthesize complex information from various sources (market data, financial reports, customer feedback) to make sound business decisions. Skilled in problem-solving with a structured, data-informed approach. Able to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and adapt strategy in fast-changing environments. Demonstrated ability to assess risk, manage trade-offs, and anticipate downstream impact of decisions. Language Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present strategy, financials, and business plans to executive leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams. Ability to clearly articulate expectations, delegate responsibilities, and provide constructive feedback to teams and individuals. Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, vendors, public agencies, and community leaders. Proficient in preparing and reviewing professional documentation, including proposals, contracts, reports, and presentations. Occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 25 pounds (e.g., samples, documents, equipment). Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, or wind. Visual and auditory acuity to assess operational environments and communicate effectively in noisy or dynamic settings.
