Job Description

Position Summary: The Purchasing Associate supports the organization's acquisition of goods and services by assisting with sourcing, order management, follow-up, and maintaining supplier relationships. Responsibilities: Learn and adhere to the philosophy and mandates of the Purchasing Department as outlined in the Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. (GBCA) Purchasing Manual. Process online Purchase Orders and follow through for shipment. Obtains quotes from suppliers. Enter Purchase Orders on PO Log for submission to Accounts Payable. Inform staff and vendors regarding the procedural requirements, as needed. Call service providers as needed. Follow-up on orders/deliveries. Maintain purchasing documents, filing, scanning, and records. Attend training workshops as required and/or requested. Prepare reports and analysis as needed. Attend training workshops as required and/or requested. Assume and perform any other additional assignment as directed by senior management to ensure the effective servicing of our clients. Perform any other additional assignment as assigned. Requirements/Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma with at least two years of relevant experience. College preferred. Good communication skills - Interpersonal, verbal, and written, must demonstrate English proficiency. Good computer skills - Microsoft Applications. Professional demeanor, relationship-building skills. Must be a motivated self-starter with an eye for detail, with the ability to multi-task and organize priorities. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as needed.
