TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT EDITOR STATUS: EXEMPTREPORT TO: DIRECTOR - LEARNING OPERATIONS, CULTURE, AND EXPERIENCEDEPARTMENT: LEADERSHIP AND ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENTJOB CODE: 11918 PAY SCALE: $93,700.00 - $100,000.00 ANNUALLYGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Instructional Content Editor ensures the quality, clarity, and consistency of learning content across digital and instructor-led formats. This role partners closely with instructional designers and leadership to ensure alignment with brand and style guides and accessibility standards. Although the core responsibility of the role is to conduct editorial reviews of the various learning assets created by the members of the Leadership and Enterprise Development Department, this role also contributes to the continuous improvement of instructional design practices and workflows and identifies opportunities to elevate content quality and learner experience across the organization. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: Review course and lesson maps, eLearning modules, facilitator and participant materials, assessments, and job aids for clarity, grammar, tone, and learner experience. Validate that learning content meets accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1), including captioning, alt text, color contracts, and document structure. Ensure the use of inclusive language across all learning assets. Examine digital learning assets for LMS readiness, SCORM compliance, and overall usability. Provide constructive editorial feedback to designers and content developers to enhance learner engagement and comprehension. Ensure consistency in voice, formatting, and terminology across all learning assets using the LED and Golden 1 brand style guides and templates. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve content discrepancies and ensure readiness for deployment. Identify recurring quality issues, patterns, and skill gaps based on work product reviews and developing and executing a plan to address. Contribute to the improvement of editorial guidelines, style guide, templates, and QA processes. Support the growth of team capabilities by sharing best practices and recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned in the advancement of the department's goals. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK: Effective oral and written communication skills are required to talk to all levels of staff. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal, personal computer, and other standard office equipment, including photocopier, facsimile machine, and telephone. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: INTERNAL: All levels of staff and branch/department managers. EXTERNAL: Vendors. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, English, Education, or related field. EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience editing, reviewing, or quality-assuring instructional or educational content in a corporate, academic, or learning environment. Experience working within an instructional design or curriculum development process. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Quality Assurance & Learning Expertise Exceptional attention to detail with strong command of grammar, syntax, and style. Precision in editing and proofreading to ensure accuracy and consistency in instructional materials. Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design fundamentals. Ability to evaluate instructional content for alignment, effectiveness, and learner experience. Experience applying accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to digital learning content. Accessibility & Technology Working knowledge of accessibility standards for digital learning content. Familiarity with LMS platforms, SCORM packaging, and eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise). Communication & Collaboration Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide feedback that is constructive, respectful, and improvement-focused. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional partners. Organization & Adaptability Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Adaptable and initiative-taking in a fast-paced, evolving learning environment. Professionalism & Flexibility Performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental goals. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Combined sitting, standing, and moving throughout the day performing work-related functions. Vision in the normal range to accomplish tasks.
