DescriptionAbout Central Texas Food Bank The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. From its headquarters in Austin, CTFB serves a 21-county region on a mission to increase food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions. Position Overview - This role serves as a public face of the Food Bank's volunteer experience and provides the highest level of customer service while working the volunteer desk and fielding a high volume of phone calls, emails, online form requests and walk-ins from members of the public. This position also provides support to volunteer programs and internal stakeholders, including recruitment, stewardship, and project coordination. This position's regular schedule is a total 40 hours. The intended schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday 12:30pm-9:00pm, and Thursday through Saturday 8:15am-4:45pm (with a half hour lunch), with the occasional need to work a flexible schedule to accommodate team shift coverage and special events. Relationships -This position reports to the Volunteer Engagement Manager and will be responsible for maintaining working relationships with both internal and external partners, including volunteers and all Food Bank teams. Requirements Your Qualifications - Have a high school diploma or equivalent Proficiency in spoken Spanish is plus Ability to be in-place and on-time on a daily basis Comfortable speaking publicly and giving direction to large groups multiple times a day Outstanding customer service skills and excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills including email writing and phone manner The ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines A flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused mindset and approach when things don't go as planned. An affinity for building relationships with the Food Bank's volunteers, attentiveness to their motivations and interests, and a desire to communicate gratitude and constantly improve their volunteer experience Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers representing diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds Good judgment and discretion, strong ethical character, ability to preserve donor confidentiality Experience using technology to increase productivity, including strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and experience using scheduling, relationship management, or fundraising software/databases The Food Bank's Community Engagement team is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming volunteer experience where diverse backgrounds are represented. Your Responsibilities - Staff the volunteer lobby Tuesday and Wednesday 12:30pm-9pm, and Thursday through Saturday 8:15am-4:45pm (with a half hour lunch). During that time this position will lead volunteer check-in and check-out twice a day. This includes welcoming volunteers, daily public speaking to large groups of volunteers at the start of their shift, enforcing CTFB volunteer procedures, signing volunteer verification paperwork, providing in-person volunteer stewardship, and creating a positive, meaningful and mission-driven volunteer experience. Maintain the volunteer lobby on a daily basis, including dusting counters and wiping down the kiosks as necessary. Clean and organize team supplies at least once a week, including the inventory of back up shoes and shirts for volunteers. Provide prompt customer service support to inquiries and issues in person, and to calls and emails as necessary through the volunteer hotline and inbox. This includes helping individuals and groups with scheduling, answering FAQ's, troubleshooting user issues in our platform, etc. Fundraise on an individual and group level by presenting the opportunity to contribute to ongoing Food Bank campaigns to volunteers who come onsite, as well as facilitating and stewarding monetary gifts that volunteers bring in. Provide strategic support for volunteer program areas as assigned, including volunteer recruitment, stewardship support, and project management of special initiatives. Maintain accurate and thorough volunteer data in Raiser's Edge NXT and VolunteerHub systems. Assist with data entry and gathering, preparation of reports, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines. Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested. This position will be the only department team member on location and will need to be comfortable responding to and handling situations independently. Working Conditions - Hours of Operation: This position's regular schedule is a total 40 hours. The intended schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday 12:30pm-9:00pm, and Thursday through Saturday 8:15am-4:45pm (with a half hour lunch), with the occasional need to work a flexible schedule to accommodate team shift coverage and special events. Environment: This position requires sitting or standing for long periods of time, using computers, laptops and other technology. This position also occasionally works around machines with moving parts and moving objects. This position works closely with others and works alone Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas. This position may rarely require same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle or CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or professional development.
