Works collaboratively with Executive Director and Cabinet team to ensure success in meeting and exceeding community goals in operations, human resources, sales and resident care. ? Responsible for oversight of the Maintenance staff, which includes hiring, training and development, counseling, performance evaluation, functional development and disciplinary action. ? Oversees training of all staff on maintenance policies and procedures. ? Trains newly hired Directors of Engineering in other communities as requested. ? Advances the employee relations strategy to build the right work environment to increase employee engagement and remain “issue” and union free. ? Increases personal growth and development through formal and informal education programs. Operations ? Evaluates and recommends staff and physical resources required for operations. ? Works with residents and staff to ensure needs are met and work is completed in a timely manner. ? Plans, implements and administers an effective preventative maintenance program Director of Engineering / Maintenance Leader Safety-Sensitive Position We are seeking a hands-on Director of Engineering / Maintenance Leader who will lead facility operations, oversee maintenance staff, and ensure our community remains safe, efficient, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors. This candidate will provide leadership, technical oversight, and operational direction for all building systems, infrastructure, and preventative maintenance programs while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service. Position Overview The Director of Engineering provides direction and supervision to the maintenance team while ensuring the integrity and performance of all building systems. This includes life safety systems, building automation systems, preventive maintenance programs, electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, HVAC, structural systems, grounds, parking areas, kitchen facilities, and related infrastructure. This candidate will lead facility operations, drive preventative maintenance strategies, and ensure the physical environment consistently supports resident comfort, safety, and operational excellence. The role also includes community project management oversight, coordination with leadership teams, and ensuring that maintenance operations align with organizational goals. This is a safety-sensitive position. Principal Accountabilities / Essential Functions Leadership This candidate will: Serve as a key member of the community Cabinet leadership team, partnering with the Executive Director and leadership team to meet and exceed operational, human resources, sales, and resident care goals. Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, development, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions when required. Ensure all maintenance staff are properly trained on safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and operational standards. Provide training and mentorship to newly hired Directors of Engineering across other communities when requested. Support a positive employee relations environment, helping maintain a productive workplace that promotes engagement and remains issue- and union-free. Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional growth through formal and informal development opportunities. Operations This candidate will: Evaluate operational needs and recommend appropriate staffing levels, equipment, and physical resources to ensure efficient operations. Work closely with residents, staff, and leadership teams to ensure maintenance needs are addressed promptly and effectively. Plan, implement, and administer a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal performance of all building systems. Oversee maintenance and repair of: Life safety systems Building automation systems Electrical systems Plumbing systems Refrigeration systems Heating and cooling systems (HVAC) Structural components Grounds and landscaping Parking areas Kitchen and food service infrastructure Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and operational standards. Manage community maintenance projects, coordinating vendors, timelines, and budgets. Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and system performance. Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Maintenance Management is required. Must have at least 3 years in a supervisory position. Licensure / Certification: Certified Hospitality Facilities Executive (CHFE) is preferred, or successfully pass the CHFE within 18 months of employment is required. Association of Facility Engineers (AFE) Plant Supervisor certification is preferred. Licensure in Heating/Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical, EPA and Plumbing is preferred. Compensation: $150,000 per year
