Job description Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic - UH60 Plus, Health and Welfare Fort Benning GA PRJOJECTXYZ has exciting openings for Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic working on UH60's supporting a customer at the US Army Ranger School at Fort Benning GA. In addition to base pay, the position includes Health and Welfare Benefits of $4.93 per hour. The difference in the cost of benefits you select is paid to you. Purpose of Position: Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic will perform unscheduled structural repair on the UH-60L/M helicopter. Additionally, the mechanic will help perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the UH-60 aircraft. Duties and Responsibilities: • Primary responsibility will be structural repair on all aircraft systems and sub-systems to include all aspects of structural repair. • Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services. • Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required. • Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment. • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives. • Mechanic removes, inspects and replaces aircraft structures, such as Main and Tail Rotor systems, flight control systems, Main and APU Engines, Hydraulic pumps and sub-systems, Main Drive Transmissions (Main/Intermediate/Tail/Input/Accessory Gear boxes) and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. • Use calibrated tools daily to execute required work. • Uses a working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records. • Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. • Performs 40 / 120 hour inspections, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves, inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. • Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, borescope, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction. • When designated shall obtain DoD EPA Refrigerant Processing Certificate Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal) or Minimum Type II. • When qualified and when required, perform non-crew member duties. • When qualified and assigned to crane operator duties shall have three years of crane operation related experience and shall comply with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction, Subpart: CC Cranes & Derricks in Construction 1926.1427 Operator qualification and Certification. • When required use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties. • Perform other qualified duties as assigned. Desirable: • Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements of the UH-60 • Knowledge of calibrated special tools to perform required maintenance on the UH-60 aircraft • Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, fault isolation procedures, and schematics is mandatory. • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus. • Computer experience with STAMIS. Required Documents / Qualifications for Application: (Submit all applicable documents with your resume) • High School Graduate or GED • Position requires one of the following: o FAA A&P license. Must be current and documented. • Documented training (by validation of qualifying factors to include documented prior military experience and training) on the MDS H60 series helicopter (Army AIT / Navy A School / AF AIT / Coast Guard A School) Documented Military or Civilian training on Rotary Wing aircraft. • Two years of experience, minimum, on the MDS H60 series aircraft, prior military DD Form 214. • At least one year of documented experience in general aviation • Must have substantial knowledge on special tools to execute structural repair to include pneumatic tools. • Specialty mechanics will possess a minimum of two years of experience (example Sheet metal / Engine / Special Tool Use) • Valid driver's license required. Physical Factors • Must climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. • Must operate manual tools and power tools. • Color Vision • Hearing • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to twenty pounds. • Occasionally lift objects up to fifty pounds. • Most heavy lifting is accomplished using mechanical devices. • Work area is primarily aircraft areas, hangars, workshops, and other industrial settings.
