Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. Join our vibrant team at the Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. (CIFC) Center as we seek a full-time (1.0 FTE) Medical Billing Specialist. This is an exciting temporary to permanent opportunity crucial for our high-volume community health center billing department. In this role, you will be involved in both manual and electronic billing across various insurance plans and patient accounts, making a significant impact on our operations. Your key responsibilities will include: Collaborating with healthcare providers and front desk staff to effectively resolve claim denials and streamline processes. Utilizing advanced computerized billing software to ensure accurate billing procedures and maintain high standards of service. Processing Explanation of Benefits (EOB) payments, addressing denials, and managing appeals diligently. Following up on unpaid claims and patient accounts, ensuring all research and actions are taken for collections promptly. Maintaining a thorough understanding of accounts receivable, including Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay accounts. Handling inquiries from insurance companies and patients regarding statements and billing questions with professionalism. Creating and sustaining an organized filing system for all billing-related documents to enhance operational efficiency. Advising on center procedure manuals and supporting various administrative tasks as needed. Building positive relationships across all departments to foster a cooperative work environment. Participating in training sessions and team meetings to stay updated and contribute to team success. Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who possess: A minimum of a High School Diploma; an Associate's Degree is preferred. Previous experience in a medical billing office is essential. Proficiencies in ICD 9/10 coding. Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) is required. Experience in Behavioral Health billing/coding is advantageous. Language skills in English, Spanish, and/or Portuguese are highly valued.
