Electric System Modeling Engineer, HV Propulsion

What to Expect The Powertrain Architecture and Modeling Team develops physics-based models of Tesla's electric drive systems to support architecture design, performance optimization, and engineering decision-making. As an Electrical Engineer on the team, you will develop, validate, and apply models of electric motors, drive inverters, and high-voltage powertrain components, including high-frequency electrical phenomena, efficiency and loss mechanisms, controls interaction, and electro-thermal behavior across the drivetrain (HV chain, electric machine, inverter, gearbox). You will use these models to guide motor drive and power electronics design teams through trade-off studies, multi-objective optimization, and performance target definition throughout the engineering lifecycle of multiple vehicle programs. This role is highly cross-functional with electric drive unit design, power electronics hardware, motor controls, thermal engineering, and HV distribution teams.
