Utility Locator Supervisor As the Utility Locator Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team of utility locators responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities, playing a critical role in preventing damage during excavation activities. This position emphasizes compliance with state laws, safety standards, and company procedures while delivering exceptional service to our clients. Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily operations of utility locators, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations. Communicate expectations clearly to field technicians to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks. Gather feedback from your team to identify obstacles and provide essential resources. Manage job/task allocations and oversee timely completion. Uphold company standards and procedures through comprehensive training and constructive feedback. Take proactive measures to minimize utility damages. Adhere to company safety protocols to reduce incidents and accidents. Investigate gas utility damages, determine liability, and collaborate with the Quality Control department to prevent future occurrences. Ensure daily compliance with state regulations and contractual obligations. Act as a liaison between the company, contractors, and municipal agencies to resolve customer concerns. Build and cultivate strong relationships with clients, excavators, and technicians. Attend damage prevention forums to represent the company. Conduct field audits and quality checks for accuracy and compliance. Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation related to locates, damages, and employee performance. Support safety initiatives and ensure team adherence to safety protocols. Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes as necessary. Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and resolving issues. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred. Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience required. At least 13 years of experience in utility locating, with significant experience in a supervisory or lead role. Strong knowledge of underground utility systems, particularly gas. Familiarity with locating equipment and ticket management systems. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Preferred Skills: Experience with mobile field technology. Knowledge of state-specific underground facility protection laws. OSHA or safety-related certifications. Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
