JMT, is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position summary: Responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their experience in the field utilizing their education. The intern will be a member of our growing Facilities MEP Engineering practice in the Hunt Valley, MD office. The intern will be asked to work closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks. The tasks will range from data entry, making changes to existing engineering drawings to design of small engineering projects in addition to documentation and field support of Commissioning activities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and material, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.Essential functions and responsibilities Enter data into systemsMake edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projectsCoordinate new small-scale projectsAssemble data and researchAssist with administrative dutiesProvide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentalsAssist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projectsDevelop and prepare specificationsEvaluate equipment and materialMaintain accurate and current project documentation Nonessential functions and responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required SkillsRequired ExperienceQualifications required: Full time student in engineering; Equivalency of a Junior or Senior status from an ABET Accredited mechanical engineering degree programExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to successfully function in a fast paced cooperative team environment spanning across multiple officesDesire to participate and excel with a broad range of project types, roles, customers and tasks Qualifications preferred Coursework in related fieldPrevious internship experiencePrevious related working experience, which may include work done concurrent to completion of engineering degree program, preferredSuccessful completion of the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam preferred Working Conditions:Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking.
