A per diem pharmacist position is available to support a specialty retail pharmacy serving complex patients who often require 8 to 15 medications daily. This role demands expertise in managing advanced disease states and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care to a predominantly Medicare/Medicaid, low-income population with varied health literacy. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and consultation skills, along with significant knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly dispensed in retail pharmacy settings. Experience in specialty pharmacy is highly preferred, especially for working with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. This role values a dedication to quality patient care rather than high-volume dispensing. Location: Cleveland, OH (with specific shifts at a Columbus site) Schedule (Per Diem): Tuesday, 2/3: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Thursday, 2/5: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Tuesday, 2/10: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Thursday, 2/12: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Friday, 2/13: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Responsibilities: Provide thorough medication consultations to patients with complex medication regimens. Manage disease states confidently, offering expert guidance for chronic and advanced illnesses. Demonstrate patience and compassion when communicating with patients with low literacy levels. Use Pioneer Rx software effectively to manage dispensing and documentation. Uphold a patient care model focused on quality and personalized therapy rather than volume. Qualifications: Active pharmacist license with experience in retail and specialty pharmacy settings. Strong expertise in managing and counseling patients with chronic and complex conditions. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage empathetically with a low-literacy patient population. Proficiency in Pioneer Rx or similar pharmacy management systems is preferred.
