Overview of the Position Cardinal Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacy Director to manage pharmacy operations at the Aurora Charter Oak Behavioral Healthcare facility. This role operates Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM, with weekend hours from 7:30 AM to 2 PM. As a working manager, you will not only oversee and direct pharmacy services but also actively engage in staffing and fulfilling administrative responsibilities. The Pharmacy Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of pharmacy services at the hospital. You will ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards while cultivating collaborative relationships with both clinical and non-clinical leaders throughout the facility. Financial management of the pharmacy department is also a key responsibility to ensure goals are met for both Cardinal Health and the healthcare client. Key Responsibilities Manage the pharmacy budget and financial operations, including profit and loss accountability. Participate in hospital committees to enhance pharmacy practices and patient care services. Conduct regular meetings for performance reviews and coaching of pharmacy staff. Oversee the purchasing of drugs and supplies according to established guidelines and best practices. Manage pharmacy scheduling and perform hiring, firing, and staff performance evaluations. Create and maintain a comprehensive pharmacy Policy and Procedure manual aligned with legal and regulatory requirements. Engage in pharmacy functions, including filling and processing orders, adhering to all departmental protocols. Qualifications Pharmacy Degree (B.S. or PharmD) is required. Active pharmacist license in California or the ability to obtain one before employment. 1-3 years of related experience in an inpatient, hospital, or behavioral health setting is highly preferred. Prior management experience is strongly preferred. Must be willing to act as a working manager, blending administrative duties with pharmacy work. Vendor credentialing may be required. Expectations for This Role Manage departmental operations and supervise professional employees and support staff. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures aimed at achieving specific pharmacy goals. Ensure that the team operates within organizational guidelines. Make decisions impacting work processes and customer interactions. Collaborate with various levels of personnel, including interactions with senior management. Resolve operational issues and gain consensus among different stakeholders. Anticipated salary range: $136,200 - $213,950. This position is bonus eligible.
