Traveling Demolition Field MechanicIndependence Excavating is looking for an experienced Demolition Field Mechanic, preferably someone who has a strong knowledge in highway truck experience and demolishing equipment, to join our team. Leave the world a better place than we found it.A typical day looks like: Performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of demolition specific heavy equipment under limited supervisionDiagnosing, repairing and/or rebuilding demolition equipmentAbility to switch gears with short notice, leaving one project to start another more criticalPerforming inspections and preventive maintenance of demolition equipment while following company and MFG guidelinesPreparing and maintaining records and reportsMay act as lead person in supervisor's absenceOther duties as requested or assigned Do you have what it takes? 5+ years of experience and/or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance shop or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the positionAbility and experience diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs by following written and verbal instructions, including manufacturer's service specificationsField fabricationUse of diagnostic equipment, including Cat ET, John Deere Service AdvisorExtensive knowledge of Acetylene and electric arc welding, (stick and mig)Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systemsKnowledge of computer controllersKnowledge and understanding of safety practices and proceduresEffectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 poundsKnowledge of Labounty Shears is a plusCDL B preferred, but not requiredWork extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsWillingness to work varying shifts, holidays and weekendsCommunicate effectively verbally and in writingOccasional overtime may be necessary during peak timesCurrent Union Member in good status Independence Excavating, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we value workplace diversity and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
