Job Description

Washington Gastroenterology believes that digestive health is the foundation for a healthy life. We are WAGI WAGI is seeking a Full‑Time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician’s Assistant (PA‑C) to join our gastroenterology medical practice. The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP), as an independent healthcare provider, is responsible for delivering comprehensive treatment to both well and sick patients while working collaboratively within the gastroenterology health team. Through direct patient care, consultation, research, education, and partnership with other healthcare providers, the APP demonstrates a high level of clinical experience in providing gastroenterology healthcare. Patients and families are educated by the APP on how to encourage wellbeing, avoid health complications, improve current health, and engage in acute and chronic illness. APPs are mentored by practice physicians; PA‑Cs practice within the WA State licensing to include practicing medicine with Physician supervision. Responsibilities Provide autonomous care to a case load of patients in a gastroenterology practice Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history, physical assessment, and pre‑procedure workups of patients with acute or chronic gastrointestinal health problems Prescribe and regulate medications per prescriptive authority in Washington State Document patient data to ensure continuity in the provision and coordination of patient care, including verbal and phone communications Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long‑term medical needs of patients Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits; maintain and review patient records, charts and other pertinent information; triage patient telephone calls and provide medical advice and guidance Participate in clinical research studies as requested Infusion clinic coverage as needed May include inpatient hospital coverage as needed Other duties as assigned This position will typically practice within WAGI clinics, Monday‑Friday. However, there are additional requirements to also provide periodic coverage on weekends or holidays as needed for hospital coverage. Qualifications – Physician Assistant Graduate of a Physician Assistant program approved by the CAHEA Current WA State Physician Assistant License required DEA prescriptive authority Current BLS certification required Current Washington State Driver’s license to be able to travel to other local clinics or hospitals as needed Extensive knowledge base of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic patient health problems Clinical experience in gastroenterology preferred or practice relevant area preferred Qualifications – Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Current WA State RN License Current WA State Nurse Practitioner License DEA prescriptive authority Current BLS certification required Current Washington State Driver’s license to be able to travel to other local clinics or hospitals as needed Extensive knowledge base of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of acute and chronic patient health problems Clinical experience in gastroenterology preferred or practice relevant area preferred Skills and Abilities Treat patients and families with respect and dignity Maintain professional working relationships with physicians and all staff members Interact positively with other offices, hospitals, pharmacies, etc. Knowledge of APP authorized Washington State scope of practice Responsible for personal and professional growth and effective communication Delegate appropriately to support staff Develop and implement training for patients and staff Collaborate with managers for process improvement Ability to maintain sustained concentration and attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions, conflicting demands, and deadlines Complete work in the time allotted and seek other duties when time allows Exhibit strong listening skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with other team members Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment Physical Activities and Requirements Ability to stand and walk throughout the day, up to 10 hours per day Prolonged periods of sitting and performing administrative duties including the use of computers Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and reach Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment as needed (up to 15 pounds) Must have the ability to utilize visualization, touch, and hearing to assess changes in patients’ condition Fine manipulation and ability to hold medical instruments Work Environment Individuals in this position will be working in our Medical Clinics and may also work within the local hospitals Individuals in this position may perform some work remotely from their homes. This will require that the individual have a location to work from where they are able to ensure the protection of Personal Health Information (PHI), have the minimum internet connection required to utilize systems, and meet the other requirements for the Telecommuting Agreement. In general, WAGI allows employees that are approved to work remotely to work anywhere in the state of Washington. However, due to unique city ordinances that impact employers, WAGI does not allow anyone to work remotely from Seattle, WA. In addition, employees may not work outside of the state of Washington without receiving prior approval from the Director of Human Resources and COO. Benefits Washington Gastroenterology has an excellent compensation and benefit package that includes the following: Medical, dental, vision, long‑term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance. Eligible for full‑time employees (30 hours per week). Company 401(k) plan with a 3% safe harbor contribution of annual earnings and potential discretionary profit‑sharing. Paid time off (PTO) accrual at a rate of .04 hours per payroll hour (1.6 hours for a 40‑hour week) and mandatory WA State and local ordinances coverage. Vacation accrual of up to 77 hours annually for new hires. Eight standard holidays per year; plus one float holiday per year. Malpractice insurance. Continuing Medical Education (CME) reimbursement budget of $5,400 per two‑year cycle; 5 days of paid CME time off per year. Hiring bonus of $10,000 for new hires.
