Position Summary The Apparel Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire product lifecycle for various apparel collections. This role ensures that garments are taken from concept through to development, production, and delivery, while meeting quality standards, margin expectations, and timelines. This is a dynamic leadership role ideal for an expert in apparel who excels in a fast-paced environment. Core Responsibilities Product Development & Sourcing: Serve as the category expert for designated product types (such as knits, wovens, activewear, or loungewear) covering fabric selection, construction techniques, and technical feasibility. Convert design and merchant directives into actionable products: establish strategies for production, select appropriate vendors, and determine fabric platforms to achieve desired costs and profit margins. Collaborate with factories, mills, and service providers to support both private label and licensed programs. Lead cost engineering initiatives and negotiations, utilizing volume advantages, fabric efficiencies, and optimized construction methods to meet margin objectives without compromising quality. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Fashion, Business, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in apparel product management, development, merchandising, or related functions. Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing a team or overseeing an entire category with cross-functional influence. Successful track record in working with major retailers, including big-box, mass, department stores, specialty, or e-commerce partners. Experience in fast-paced, quick-turn development environments. Strong understanding of apparel manufacturing processes, textile sourcing, garment construction, and production workflows. Proficient at managing multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with teams, vendors, and retail partners. Comfortable analyzing margins, performing cost breakdowns, and engaging in scenario planning for commercial decisions. Familiarity with key product tools (e.g., PLM systems, Adobe Illustrator, or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills are a plus).
