The Arc Carroll County is seeking dedicated On-Call Direct Support Specialists (DSPs) to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in our Community Living homes. About the Role: In the role of a DSP in our Residential Program, you'll be part of a caring team in a cozy home environment, helping individuals with daily living activities. This department operates 24/7, and PRN/on-call staff are essential for covering vacations, unexpected absences, and emergencies. You can specify your availability when applying. PRN Commitment Requirement: To maintain active PRN status, employees must work a minimum of 4 shifts within every six-week scheduling period. Essential Functions: Assist with daily living skills and personal care Support meal planning, cooking, laundry, and light housekeeping Administer medications (Med Tech training provided) Provide transportation to appointments and community activities Maintain accurate documentation Encourage independence, dignity, and community inclusion Ensure health, safety, and overall well-being of residents Compensation and Benefits $19.68 per hour (Maryland Equal Pay compliant) $2.00/hour weekend shift differential 403(b) Retirement Plan (available immediately) Employee Assistance & Wellness Programs Credit Union Membership opportunity for all Arc employees Requirements: POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience not including time spent on a permit. Must have a clean drug screen, criminal record and a clean/safe driving record. Basic computer and keyboarding skills. The ability to complete CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc. A minimum of one year of experience supporting persons with disabilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with the ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally. Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required. Ability to transfer individuals from a chair to a vehicle, bed to chair, and to position individuals on a sling or Hoyer lift. Ability to physically secure a wheelchair in a van using proper tie-downs and straps. Location: Westminster and/or Taneytown, MD
